Recap: Calumet New Tech Warriors vs. Whiting Oilers
This season hasn't been kind to the Calumet New Tech Warriors, who are still winless after their eighth match. They were the victim of a tough 63-37 defeat at the hands of Whiting on Wednesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calumet New Tech in their matchups with Whiting: they've now lost three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Whiting to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gia-marie Kertis, who scored 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Quinones, who scored 16 points along with five steals.
Calumet New Tech's defeat was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for Whiting, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6-1 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calumet New Tech will take on Gary West Side at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gary West Side is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Whiting will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Station Edison at 9:00 a.m. on December 29th.
