Football Game Preview: Stratford Elks vs. Tahoka Bulldogs

Two dominant signal callers in Chase Lantelme and Dante Garcia are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Stratford Elks will face off against the Tahoka Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Stratford is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Morton, posting a 78-14 win. The game marked the Elks' most dominant victory of the season.

Stratford's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Hunter Lee, who rushed for 43 yards and a pair of scores, and Abraham Goss, who rushed for 125 yards and one TD. Goss got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 76 yards. Darius Jones also helped with two touchdowns in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stratford was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 339 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Tahoka made easy work of Eldorado on Friday and carried off a 35-13 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Stratford's record now sits at 9-2. As for Tahoka, their record is now 7-4.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Stratford has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Tahoka struggles in that department as they've been averaging 235.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
