Whitney Young picks up 11th straight win on the road

The Whitney Young Dolphins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 26 points or more this season. They blew past Lane Tech 69-40 on the road. Given Whitney Young's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Lane Tech is ranked 165th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Whitney Young was led to victory by Destiny Jackson and Kiaya Johnson. Jackson dropped a triple-double on 15 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists, while Johnson went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 4 assists. The game was Jackson's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Alana Shields was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five steals.

Whitney Young pushed their record up to 12-5 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.55 points. As for Lane Tech, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season.

Whitney Young will face off against Loyola Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Loyola Academy will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line. As for Lane Tech, they will be playing at home against DePaul College Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
