Softball Recap: Humble Wildcats vs. King Panthers
Humble extended their losing streak to six on Friday, dropping them down to 6-23. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 10-9 heartbreaker at the hands of the King Panthers. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 14-5.
Viviana Robles was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Camille Price was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
As for King, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-28. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On King's side, Haley Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off four hits. Jones was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ayreus Dejean, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Nelly Pizano, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
