Basketball Recap: Kerry M Ryan's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ansley/Litchfield over Loomis

Ansley/Litchfield was the 42-32 winner over Loomis when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ansley/Litchfield Spartans fell 48-39 to the Loomis Wolves on Saturday. While the Spartans didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Wolves 12-4 in the first quarter.

Ansley/Litchfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kerry M Ryan, who went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and four blocks. Kiera Bailey was another key player, putting up nine points.

Loomis was led to victory by Sophia Schemper and Zeigh Booe. Schemper went 6 for 12 en route to 20 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while Booe went 6 of 15 on her way to 16 points and five steals. The dominant performance gave Booe a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Perry, who posted seven points and five steals.

Ansley/Litchfield has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season. As for Loomis, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-16.

Ansley/Litchfield will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Arcadia/Loup City at 6:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Loomis, they will venture away from home to challenge Elm Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Elm Creek will roll in looking for their 13th straight win, something Loomis surely won't give up without a fight.
