Softball Recap: Roanoke Rapids Has No Trouble Against Rocky Mount

Roanoke Rapids got themselves on the board against Rocky Mount on Tuesday, but Rocky Mount never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Gryphons. The result was nothing new for the Yellowjackets, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Cadence Ball made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Destiny Wallace was a standout: she scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Another player making a difference was Kyla Odom, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.

Roanoke Rapids always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .771. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Roanoke Rapids and bumps their season record up to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Rocky Mount, they are on a 30-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.
