Volleyball Recap: Watkins Memorial Warriors vs. Granville Blue Aces

Watkins Memorial was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 3-1 to the Granville Blue Aces. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Aces apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Watkins Memorial ultimately came up short, they really made Granville work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 29-27, 18-25, 25-12, 25-16.

Adalyn Rhodes paced Watkins Memorial's offense, picking up 12 kills. Rhodes got some help from Ellah Bigham and her 27 assists. Emily Thompson controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.

Granville found their leader in sophomore Ady Sims, who had 30 digs and five assists. Those 30 digs set a new season-high mark for Sims. Elena Baker also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Watkins Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Granville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Watkins Memorial wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Westerville South on the 8th. As for Granville, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against Bishop Hartley on the 6th.
