Volleyball Recap: Salem Spartans vs. Christiansburg Blue Demons

If Salem was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Pulaski County last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Salem Spartans took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christiansburg Blue Demons on Monday. The Spartans haven't had much luck with the Blue Demons recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Salem started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-29, 25-11, 25-23, 25-16.

Christiansburg can attribute much of their success to Jasmyn Charlton, who had nine digs.

Salem's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Christiansburg, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Salem does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Christiansburg, they will venture away from home to square off against Hidden Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hidden Valley will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Christiansburg surely won't give up without a fight.
