Baseball Game Preview: Patrick County Cougars vs. James River Knights

Patrick County has won three straight games at home, while James River has won three straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Friday. The Cougars will welcome the Knights at 7:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Patrick County proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Amherst County 6-4.

The team relied heavily on Jaiden Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, James River gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Floyd County 4-2. The game was the first time the Knights have beaten the Buffaloes on their field since April 11, 2023.

The victory got James River back to even at 9-9. As for Patrick County, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
