Softball Recap: Orange Beach Finds Playoff Glory Versus Satsuma

Orange Beach had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Satsuma Gators a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Makos, who have now won 29 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to MK McMullan's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayde Palmer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Katie King was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Orange Beach kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive contests.

Orange Beach pushed their record up to 38-2 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for Satsuma, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 25-18-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Orange Beach beat the Gators by a score of 8-1 later that day.
