In a battle of Trans Valley League rivals, Ripon put a stop to Escalon's perfect season. Danny Hernandez rushed for 104 yards, had 44 yards receiving and returned an interception for six as Ripon prevailed 42-21 over previously 17th-ranked Escalon 42-21. Ripon enters this week as No. 24 overall in the Sacramento Top 25 football rankings.
In Week Nine, several ranked teams square off including No. 8 Elk Grove hosting No. 9 Cosumnes Oaks. The winner will, at minimum, share a Delta League championship.
No. 4 Rocklin travels a short distance to play rival and No. 19 Del Oro in a Sierra Foothill League battle. The Thunder and Eagles are playing for bragging rights and playoff positioning.
Alsoin the Sierra Foothill League is No. 5 Oak Ridge at No. 11 Granite Bay with both teams working on first round byes once postseason hits.
