Basketball Recap: West Florence Takes a Loss

West Florence lost against Westwood back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The West Florence Knights were dealt an 81-20 defeat at the hands of the Westwood Redhawks. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-5.

When it comes to explaining why West Florence lost, don't look at Zoey Marshall. Despite the final result, she posted seven points. Marshall is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games she's played.

Westwood found their leader in freshman Lyric Rogers, who went 10-for-20 to rack up 24 points and six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rogers has scored all season. Aneya Britt was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds.

West Florence has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for Westwood, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-14.

West Florence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-21 loss against Spring Valley on the 14th. As for Westwood, they have also already played their next game, a 58-19 victory against Sumter on the 13th.
