Hillside hasn't had much luck against East Chapel Hill recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will be playing at home against the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Hillside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Hillside will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Southeast Raleigh on Thursday. The Hornets put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 17-6 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Hornets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Tierney Bailey made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ava Duncan was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February. Maliya Blandford was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Hillside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Chapel Hill unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 15-6 to Jordan.
Lauren Steiner was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lindsay White, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
The win got Hillside back to even at 7-7. As for East Chapel Hill, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
