Baseball Recap: Dayton Starts off Right with Win over Summit

Dayton took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Summit Hilltoppers by a score of 10-7. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 6-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Michael Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Jackson Babiarz was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nate Goldman, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Dayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Summit only posted an OBP of .400.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dayton is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will square off against Cranford at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Summit, they will take on Scotch Plains-Fanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
