The Wilmot Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Shoreland Lutheran Pacers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Wilmot came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Elkhorn, falling 8-1. The Panthers have struggled against the Elks recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Wilmot saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chance Ruby, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Shoreland Lutheran, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Martin Luther on Thursday as they made off with a 14-6 victory. With that win, the Pacers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Michael Curran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Shoreland Lutheran: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6-1 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Eli Schneider looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Shoreland Lutheran let Ian Bigelow and James Craig run wild. Bigelow went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Craig went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Craig has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Morrow, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Shoreland Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Shoreland Lutheran's record now sits at 9-6-1. As for Wilmot, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
