Softball Recap: Fullerton Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Fullerton can now relate to. They fell just short of the Roosevelt Mustangs by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Indians' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Katelynn Mathews was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fullerton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Lee, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Fullerton's defeat dropped their record down to 21-8. As for Roosevelt, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8-1 record this season.

Fullerton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Roosevelt, they will challenge La Mirada at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. The Matadores will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight.
