Baseball Recap: Rodriguez Drops Season-High Score on Sacramento

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rodriguez). Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Sacramento Dragons a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Mustangs needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Nick Schikore looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rodriguez is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Rodriguez let Sean O'Connell and Drew Beasley run wild. O'Connell scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Beasley scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Beasley a new career-high in RBI (three). Ben Vaughn was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-3.

Rodriguez hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sacramento struck out ten times.

The win got Rodriguez back to even at 4-4. As for Sacramento, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-5.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rodriguez beat Sacramento by a score of 27-0 later that day.
