Football Recap: Apollo Comes Up Short

Apollo extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They had to suffer through a 63-28 loss at the hands of the Millennium Tigers. The Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2020.

When it comes to explaining why Apollo lost, don't look at Thomas Williams. Despite the final result, he threw for 282 yards and four touchdowns.

As for Millennium, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.

Millennium got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dmari Bryant out in front who rushed for 282 yards and three TDs on only 12 carries. Bryant is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 144 every time he's taken the field this season. Rayden Reibel was another key player, throwing for 279 yards and four touchdowns while completing 92.9% of his passes.

Coming up, Apollo will look to defend their home field on Friday against Chaparral at 7:00 p.m. The Hawks will be up against the Firebirds' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Millennium, they will venture away from home to challenge Shadow Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
