Calvary Christian picks up sixth straight win at home

Recap: Calvary Christian Spartans vs. Upper Scioto Valley Rams

The Calvary Christian Spartans entered their tilt with the Upper Scioto Valley Rams with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. Calvary Christian snuck past the Rams with a 48-42 victory on Thursday.

Abigail Reinhard was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. Reinhard is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Madhuri Cook, who scored 13 points along with two steals.

When it comes to explaining why Upper Scioto Valley lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brielle Cotterman. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Patiance Cole, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and two steals.

Even though they lost, Upper Scioto Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Calvary Christian pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Calvary Christian will head out on the road to take on the Sabers at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Dominion Academy: 27.8, the Spartans: 28.9) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Upper Scioto Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
