Football Game Preview: Cherokee Braves vs. Andrews Wildcats + Official Tickets

The Cherokee Braves will head out to take on the Andrews Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cherokee has given up an average of 29.4 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Cherokee is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Friday. They came up short against Swain County, falling 40-14. While losing is never fun, the Braves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 297th, while the Maroon Devils are ranked 139th).

The losing side was boosted by Jonathan Saylor, who rushed for 131 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns. His longest rush was for an impressive 50 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Meanwhile, Andrews fell victim to Murphy and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bulldogs and fell 59-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Andrews' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Cherokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for Cherokee against Andrews in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 27-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
