Baseball Game Preview: Clairemont Chieftains vs. Monte Vista Monarchs

The Clairemont Chieftains will be taking part in a tournament against the Monte Vista Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clairemont's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Monte Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Clairemont's tournament run continued when they took on West Hills on Monday. Clairemont fell 8-4 to West Hills. The Chieftains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clairemont got a good showing from Jackson Cleary, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Cleary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Harrison Byard was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Monte Vista also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to Palmer Trinity by a score of 12-9.

Monte Vista got a big performance out of Orlando Rupley, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Antonio Mccomb was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Monte Vista's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Clairemont, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.
