Basketball Recap: Arianna Vasquez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Coyle over Glencoe

If Coyle was feeling good fresh off their 43-15 takedown of Carney last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Coyle Bluejackets lost 54-33 to the Glencoe Panthers on Friday. The Bluejackets have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Coyle's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Arianna Vasquez, who posted 11 points. Vasquez is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 35 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ashlee Demoss, who earned ten points.

Coyle's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Glencoe, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-9.

Coyle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-26 defeat against Mulhall-Orlando on the 4th. As for Glencoe, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Glencoe Panthers face off against the Morrison Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
