Basketball Game Preview: Preuss UCSD Tritons vs. Liberty Charter Lions

Preuss UCSD and Liberty Charter are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Preuss UCSD Tritons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Liberty Charter Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Preuss UCSD's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Last Thursday, Preuss UCSD humbled Horizon Prep with an 83-41 victory. The Tritons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 21 points or more this season.

Preuss UCSD found their leader in sophomore Nahom Abaynen, who posted 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Abaynen has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Pedro Arista, who had ten points.

Meanwhile, Liberty Charter can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Ocean View Christian as Liberty Charter made off with a 54-31 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lions have posted since December 19, 2024.

Preuss UCSD has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Liberty Charter, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-14.

Everything went Preuss UCSD's way against Liberty Charter in their previous meeting back in January, as Preuss UCSD made off with a 69-44 victory. Will Preuss UCSD repeat their success, or does Liberty Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
