Baseball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Sheldon Huskies

For the second straight game, Elk Grove will face off against Sheldon. The Thundering Herd will welcome the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elk Grove has six straight victories, Sheldon has 14 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Elk Grove made easy work of Sheldon and carried off an 11-1 win.

Bryce Engle looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Tristen Bartlett was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Antonio Cuevas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matchups.

Elk Grove pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, their loss dropped their record down to 3-17.
