McDonald will face off against Independence at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with McDonald sitting on nine straight wins and Independence on four.
McDonald is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Memorial on Wednesday as they made off with a 20-1 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Blue Devils with their most commanding win of the season.
Marissa Colarich made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Colarich was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Sophia Pecchia was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Aurora Nichols also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.
McDonald always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .650. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Westlake typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Independence proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Demons by a score of 5-1.
Lila Manfredonia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 19 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Vollman, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Julia Chait, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
McDonald's record is now 11-2. As for Independence, their record now sits at 6-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. McDonald has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 13.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Independence struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 11.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
