Basketball Recap: Pioneer Takes a Loss

Pioneer lost against Vacaville back in December of 2019 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pioneer Patriots lost 71-50 to the Vacaville Bulldogs. The Patriots just can't catch a break and have now endured four losses in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Pioneer lost, don't look at Alex Macias. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Macias a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emiliano Romero, who posted nine points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Pioneer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Pioneer's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Vacaville, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will face off against Wood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pioneer is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.2 points per game this season. Vacaville has already played their next contest (against River City), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
