Baseball Recap: Mead Comes Up Short

Mead extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 12-10. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Erie Tigers. The Mavericks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2025.

Keenein Nix was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Haley, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

As for Erie, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 21-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games.

On Erie's side, Austin Sieckmann spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. Sieckmann has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Erie's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Colt Heil, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mead has already played their next contest, an 8-1 loss against Broomfield on the 9th. Erie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
