Walton-Verona had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Lloyd Memorial Juggernauts. The Bearcats were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Juggernauts, so the Bearcats were just returning the favor.

Walton-Verona was led to victory by Reece Floyd and Olivia Simpkins. Floyd had seven digs and four aces, while Simpkins had six assists. Those four aces gave Floyd a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Walton-Verona was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Lloyd Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coincidentally, Walton-Verona and Lloyd Memorial will both be playing Owen County the next time they take the court. The Bearcats will head out to face the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Juggernauts will play them later in the day, at 8:00 p.m.
