Basketball Recap: Kaleyah Croxsell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Perryville over Rising Sun

Perryville has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 53-42 to the Rising Sun Tigers on Monday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 80-53 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Perryville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kaleyah Croxsell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds. What's more, Croxsell also racked up five blocks, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Carsyn Hulbert, who posted ten points along with seven boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Perryville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 22 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Perryville suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 12-3. As for Rising Sun, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Perryville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 39-33 win against Elkton on the 4th. As for Rising Sun, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-36 loss against Patterson Mill on the 5th.
