Recap: Berthoud Spartans vs. Eagle Valley Devils
This season hasn't been kind to the Berthoud Spartans, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They fell 50-43 to Eagle Valley on Friday.
Despite the loss, Berthoud saw an underclassman step up: Avery Pfohl scored 23 points along with 3 steals. Pfohl scored a full 53.5% of Berthoud's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Sydney Slauson was another key contributor, scoring 4 points along with 3 steals.
Eagle Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zakia Shreeve out in front who scored 16 points along with 5 assists and 4 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Shreeve has scored at least 25% of Eagle Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josie Fitzsimmons, who scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds.
Berthoud's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Eagle Valley, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.
Berthoud will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Steamboat Springs at 9:00 a.m. on December 9th. Steamboat Springs is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Eagle Valley, they will take on Loveland at TBD on Saturday.
