Basketball Game Preview: Sumrall Bobcats vs. Forrest County Agricultural Aggies

Sumrall and Forrest County Agricultural are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2021, but not for long. The Sumrall Bobcats will face off against the Forrest County Agricultural Aggies at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Monday, Sumrall was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 52-48 to Pearl River Central.

Despite the loss, Sumrall had strong showings from Ella Robertson, who went 8 of 19 en route to 25 points, and Kynlee Speed, who posted 14 points. Robertson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Forrest County Agricultural entered their tilt with Purvis on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 40-33 victory over the Tornadoes. Given the Aggies' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 87th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 240th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sumrall has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.6 points per game. As for Forrest County Agricultural, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Sumrall came up short against Forrest County Agricultural when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 68-57. Can Sumrall avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
