Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Flyers vs. Lytle Pirates

The St. Joseph Flyers will be taking part in a tournament against the Lytle Pirates at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. St. Joseph is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

On Thursday, St. Joseph didn't have quite enough to beat Robstown and fell 4-3.

Cameron Streiff made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aiden Aragon, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Lytle made easy work of Judson on Thursday and carried off an 11-3 win. Considering the Pirates have won three matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Mason Hill, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Kash Friesenhahn also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Lytle and bumps their season record up to 5-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for St. Joseph, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
