Baseball Recap: Sunnyslope Find Success

Sunnyslope's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over the Cherokee Trail Cougars.

The team relied heavily on Bryan Mares, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Sunnyslope's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Liam Marschall also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Mares wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Sunnyslope kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. Sunnyslope is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Sunnyslope's record now sits at 5-8. As for Cherokee Trail, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyslope will venture away from home to challenge Basha at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will head out on the road to square off against Douglas County at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
