Softball Recap: United Christian Academy's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

United Christian Academy's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Upland Highlanders/Scots by a score of 5-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Lariah Avila made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Avila was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liliana Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Tiffany Sanchez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

United Christian Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Upland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Looking ahead, United Christian Academy will be taking part in a tournament against Northview at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Northview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Upland, they will take on Rialto in a tournament on Thursday. Rialto has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Upland will no doubt try to take advantage of.
