Softball Recap: Springtown's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Springtown nor Eagle Mountain made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Porcupines' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 4-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Porcupines sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Kylee Spray made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaylee Falcon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Addyson Fyffe also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Springtown pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Eagle Mountain, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-13-1.

Springtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Eagle Mountain, they will take on Western Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
