For the first time this season, Clovis East will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the Clovis West Golden Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Clovis East's defense has only allowed 12.2 points per game this season, so Clovis West's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Clovis East took a loss when they played away from home on September 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They walked away with a 30-19 win over Lemoore. The Timberwolves' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Jamie Spurgeon, who rushed for 127 yards and one touchdown on only 12 carries. Those 127 rushing yards gave him a new career-high.
Clovis East's defense stepped up as well, laying out KK Harris nine times. The heavy lifting was done by Brandon Cervantez and Devin Woodard, who racked up five sacks between them. Cervantez also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with seven. Tristan Kircher was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass.
Meanwhile, Clovis West entered their tilt with Turlock last Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 54-7 victory. That 47 point margin sets a new team best for the Golden Eagles this season.
Clovis East better focus on containing Jamar (JJ) Howard and Major Lee as the pair were huge in Clovis West's win. Howard threw for 156 yards and three TDs on only 14 passes, while Lee gained 117 total yards and a touchdown. Lee's longest rush was for an impressive 51 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Relando Jefferson also helped with two scores in total.
Clovis East's record now sits at 4-1. As for Clovis West, their record is now an identical 4-1.
Everything came up roses for Clovis East against Clovis West in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 44-3 win. In that game, the Timberwolves amassed a halftime lead of 30-3, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
