Basketball Game Preview: Steeleville Warriors vs. Waltonville Spartans

The Steeleville Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Waltonville Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Steeleville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.

Steeleville is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over New Athens.

Meanwhile, Waltonville entered their tilt with Gibault Catholic on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with eight. They were the clear victor by a 64-41 margin over the Hawks. Given the Spartans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd in Illinois, while the Hawks are ranked 458th in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Steeleville has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-12 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points over those games. Waltonville pushed their record up to 27-4 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season.
