Softball Recap: Wyoming Area Has No Trouble Against Hanover Area

Wyoming Area was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Hanover Area on Thursday. The Warriors blew past the Hawkeyes 14-4. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Hawkeyes: they've now won eight in a row.

Alexa Gasek spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wyoming Area let Kaia Brown and Renee Haddock run wild. Brown went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Haddock went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Haddock has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Giardina, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Wyoming Area hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Wyoming Area's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Hanover Area, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wyoming Area will welcome Pittston at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Patriots have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for Hanover Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Redeemer at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
