Volleyball Recap: Smidt Tech Comes Up Short

After flying high against Camino Nuevo Dalzell Lance Campus on Monday, Smidt Tech came back down to earth. The Grey Wolves fell just short of the Rise Kohyang Tritons by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tritons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in March.

Smidt Tech was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Rise Kohyang work for it, especially in the fourth set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 25-22, 22-25, 28-26, 15-9.

Elvis Garcia was nothing short of spectacular for Rise Kohyang: he had 28 assists and four aces. That's the most aces Garcia has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emanuel Alcazar, who had eight digs and five aces.

Smidt Tech moved to 10-10 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Rise Kohyang, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.

As of now, neither Smidt Tech nor the Tritons have any future games scheduled.
