Baseball Recap: Stanton Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Stanton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Covenant School of Jacksonville Warriors with a sharp 12-5 win on Thursday.

The team relied heavily on Jose Figueroa, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Jack Andersen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Stanton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .517 that Covenant School of Jacksonville posted.

The victory got Stanton back to even at 1-1. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.

Looking ahead, Stanton will challenge Riverside at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Covenant School of Jacksonville, they will take on Bradford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
