Softball Game Preview: Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys vs. Monte Alto Blue Devil

Falfurrias is a perfect 3-0 against Monte Alto since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys will take on the Monte Alto Blue Devil at 7:00 p.m. Falfurrias comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Falfurrias is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 21-18 to Odem on Friday.

Hayle Menchaca made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Kylie Cisneros, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5.

Even though they lost, Falfurrias was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Monte Alto, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in February. They were the clear victor by a 26-8 margin over Progreso on Monday.

The victory got Monte Alto back to even at 1-1. As for Falfurrias, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.

Everything went Falfurrias' way against Monte Alto in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, as Falfurrias made off with a 10-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Falfurrias since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
