Baseball Recap: Cooper Murphy's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Kirbyville over Anderson-Shiro

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Kirbyville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Owls this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on Thursday.

Kirbyville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Murphy, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Kirbyville and nudges their season record down to 23-8. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Anderson-Shiro, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-11 record this season.

As of now, neither Kirbyville nor Anderson-Shiro have any future games scheduled.
