Softball Game Preview: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Norwalk Truckers

The Columbian Tornadoes will head out to take on the Norwalk Truckers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Columbian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Columbian turned things around against Sandusky on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-10 margin over the Blue Streaks. The Tornadoes' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Camryn Haman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Haman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-6 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Columbian got a massive performance out of Breanna McNutt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance also gave McNutt a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Elyssia Aller, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Columbian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Norwalk came up short against Bellevue on Friday and fell 14-11.

Norwalk's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Columbian, their record now sits at 9-12.

Columbian came out on top in a nail-biter against Norwalk in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tornadoes since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
