Football Recap: Paul Ridgway and Xander Freels Pace Sullivan Defense

Sullivan and South Putnam pushed the score to 45-21 the last time they played South Putnam, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Golden Arrows took a 10-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Golden Arrows were not able to get on the board.

Sullivan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Paul Ridgway and Xander Freels.

Ty Benton had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 182 yards and one TD for South Putnam. Benton's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards.

Sullivan now has a losing record of 2-3. As for South Putnam, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Sullivan has already played their next contest, a 63-0 victory against Owen Valley on the 26th. As for South Putnam, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 69-13 win against West Vigo on the 26th.
