Baseball Recap: Central Valley Christian Drops Highest Score of Season Against Hanford West

Central Valley Christian not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27, 2024. They blew past the Hanford West Huskies 10-1. The Cavaliers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Jared Griffith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Central Valley Christian's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Macade Atkins, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave Atkins a new career-high. Another was Teague Brandenburg, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Central Valley Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Hanford West, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Valley Christian will take on Arvin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Central Valley Christian is facing Arvin at the right time seeing as Arvin is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hanford West, they will square off against Hanford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
