The South Central Falcons will face off against the Dixon Bulldogs on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Northern Nash get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The victory was nothing new for the Falcons as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Lacey Spivey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Worsley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Dixon entered their tilt with Carrboro on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Jaguars.
Not much got past Kailei Dawsey, who gave up just two hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Carrboro off the board. Dawsey has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Alivia Nokes, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Kaylie Moore was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
South Central pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Dixon, their win bumped their record up to 10-13.
Dixon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .353. It's a different story for Dixon, though, as they've only averaged .241. Will they be able to contain South Central's hitters?
South Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Dixon when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 10-5. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
