Basketball Recap: Summit Takes a Loss

Summit lost against Independence back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Summit Spartans were dealt a 52-24 defeat at the hands of the Independence Eagles. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Summit has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Independence, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-10.

Summit and Independence could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Summit (ranked 159th) will meet Nolensville (ranked 22nd) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Independence will square off against Brentwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 85 places (109 vs. 24).
