Maury is a perfect 10-0 against Manor since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Commodores will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. Maury is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Maury barely beat Norview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Commodores' pitchers stepped up to hand the Pilots a 14-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Commodores' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Landen Hall made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hall was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Hunter Gillespie was a standout: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Landon Carraway was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Maury always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Norview only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Manor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-7 to Granby.
Ethan McCrickard was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Will Herndon, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Maury's record is now 3-1. As for Manor, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Maury has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. However, it's not like Manor struggles in that department as they've averaged .460. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Maury took their win against Manor when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Commodores since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
