Basketball Recap: Portage Takes a Loss

Portage won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They had to suffer through a 52-20 loss at the hands of the Crown Point Bulldogs. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

It was another big night for Ava Richie, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points and six steals for Crown Point. Richie has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times she's played. Ivy Henderson was another key player, going 6 of 7 on her way to 14 points.

Portage's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Crown Point, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-3.

Portage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 58-16 loss against Hammond Morton on the 10th. As for Crown Point, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-38 defeat against Penn on the 7th.
