Basketball Recap: Richland Northeast Comes Up Short

Richland Northeast suffered their biggest defeat since December 21, 2024 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Lancaster Bruins and fell 72-39. The Cavaliers haven't had much luck with the Bruins recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Lancaster got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Watford out in front who went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Watford's evening made it 12 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Robbie Wheeler, who posted 13 points along with six boards and four steals.

Richland Northeast's loss dropped their record down to 4-17. As for Lancaster, they pushed their record up to 15-1 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Richland Northeast won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against South Pointe at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. South Pointe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season. As for Lancaster, they will venture away from home to square off against A.C. Flora at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lancaster knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 games -- so hopefully A.C. Flora likes a good challenge.
